Description
The Eastern Tower at Cannon Street Station was built between 1865 and 1866, possibly by E M Barry. It is one of a pair of towers that once marked the junction of the train shed with the bridge over the Thames. The tower is constructed of yellow brick and features a plain, channelled lower stage. The upper part is more elaborate, with open arches, a cornice, and a parapet. It has a square domed roof topped with a squat lantern and spire. For details on the other tower, refer to the listing for Cousin Lane.
