Description
The 'London Stone' is a historic feature with a stone surround and an iron grille, located at the base of number 111 Cannon Street, EC4. Its exact origin is uncertain, but it may be a Roman milestone. The stone was previously set into the base of St Swithin's Church, which was damaged during World War II and subsequently demolished. The surround is made of Portland stone, and the iron grille is likely from the 19th century.
