Description

Number 72 is a terraced house with a later shop, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick with a stucco ground floor and has four storeys plus a basement. The building features three windows and has a 20th-century reproduction of a 19th-century shopfront, which includes two bowed windows with small panes. The wooden doorcase is flanked by half-pilasters and has an architrave, an entablature with a fluted frieze decorated with patterae, and a dentil cornice, along with panelled reveals. The square-headed doorway has a fanlight and a panelled door. The recessed sash windows have gauged red brick flat arches and original glazing bars. The building is topped with a parapet. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have an entrance hall with a panelled dado and a staircase featuring turned balusters and column newels. Additionally, there are attached cast-iron railings with torch flambe finials in front of the property.
