Description
The pair of semi-detached houses at 60 and 61 Gloucester Crescent date from the mid-19th century. They are built of yellow stock brick with raised brick quoins and stucco dressings, and have a shallow hipped roof topped with a tall slab chimney stack. The houses are three storeys high, with a semi-basement level. Each house has two windows to the front, plus a single recessed, full-height entrance bay. The ground floor features a canted bay window rising from the semi-basement, and topped with a slated penthouse roof. The windows above the canted bays on the first floor are architraved sashes with cornices, keystones, upswept aprons, and floor bands. The second-floor windows are similar in style but lack cornices and have a continuous sill band with brackets. The party wall is marked by a raised strip of brickwork reflecting the quoins. The entrances are framed by moulded surrounds in an early 18th-century style, with panelled doors and overlights. The sashes above the ground floor entrances are in 18th-century style surrounds with shaped aprons and upswept cornices. Interiors were not inspected.
