Description
Number 37 to 43 Inverness Street consists of four terraced houses forming a symmetrical design, incorporating the return of Number 23 Gloucester Crescent. Constructed in the mid-19th century, the houses are built of yellow stock brick, with channelled stucco to the ground floors of numbers 37 to 43, and plain bands at first-floor level. Number 37 is two storeys and has a basement, featuring a single window and a recessed portico with a panelled door and overlight. The ground floor has a tripartite sash window with enriched brackets to the mullions. The first floor features a similar architraved sash window with a console bracketed cornice and a cast-iron balcony. A cornice and arcaded balustraded parapet tops the building. Numbers 39 to 43 are three storeys and have basements, with square-headed entrances featuring panelled doors and overlights. The recessed sashes on the upper floors are architraved, and the first floor sashes have console bracketed cornices and cast-iron balconies, while the second floor sashes have lugged sills. The buildings are finished with a cornice and blocking course. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with spearhead finials are present to the areas.
