Description

A substantial early 19th century terraced house, now subdivided into Nos. 4A, 4B and 4C. The house is constructed of yellow stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor, and has a slated roof with projecting eaves. The exterior is three storeys high with a basement, and features a double-fronted design with three windows plus a two-window extension on the west side. A late 19th century L-shaped glazed portico extension, containing stained glass in an Art Nouveau style, leads to No. 4, The Studio. The house has a segmental-arched doorway with a cornice head, patterned fanlight, and half-glazed double doors. Gauged red brick flat arches are above the recessed sash windows, and the second floor has a sill band.

Attached to the main house is No. 4, The Studio, a late 19th century single-storey structure. This section is of yellow stock brick with red brick dressings and a slated pitched roof with tall inset lights and a tall chimney stack. Its road frontage features clasping brick pilaster strips supporting an undulating stone coped pediment with scrolled stops, and a triangular three-light diamond-pane window. There is a triangular-headed entrance with a block fanlight and a plain door. The interior was not inspected.
