Description

Numbers 5-17 and their attached railings form a terrace of seven houses built around 1835-44. The houses are constructed of darkened stock brick with rusticated stucco to the ground floors, with numbers 15 and 17 painted. A plain first-floor sill band runs across the facade. The buildings are three storeys high with basements. Each house originally had two windows.

The ground floor features round-arched openings, with the exception of number 17. Doorways are framed by fluted quarter columns topped with cornice-heads, above fanlights and panelled doors. Number 17's doorway has pilaster-jambs supporting a dentil cornice-head, fanlight, and panelled door. Gauged brick flat arches frame recessed sash windows with glazing bars; the ground floor sashes of numbers 5, 11, and 13 have margin glazing. At number 17, the first-floor windows are architraved sashes with bracketed cornices. Cast-iron balconies are present to all first-floor windows. The houses have stucco cornices with blocking courses. The interiors have not been inspected.

Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials define the areas.
