Description
Number 23 is a terraced house located on Church Row, built around 1720 and refaced in the late 19th century in a Georgian style. The house is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and features a tiled roof with cambered dormers. It has three storeys, an attic, and a basement. The entrance boasts a well-crafted architraved doorcase with an enriched console-bracketed hood, leading to a doorway that has a radial patterned fanlight and a panelled door, with a wrought-iron lamp bracket above. The windows are fitted with flush framed sashes, which have gauged red brick cambered arches and exposed boxing. There is a plain brick band at the first-floor level, and a late 19th-century stone cornice replaces an early 19th-century pediment. A lead lion mask rainwater head and pipe can be found to the right of the house. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to retain original panelling and fireplaces. The property is complemented by attached cast-iron railings with urn finials surrounding the area.
