Description
Number 7 is a terraced house built around 1728 by R Hughes. It was refronted, likely in the late 19th century. The building features patched brown brick with red brick dressings and has three storeys plus a basement. It has one window and an architraved doorcase with a console-bracketed hood, a radial patterned fanlight, and a panelled door. The windows are segmental arched, with flush framed sashes and exposed boxing. The house has a parapet, and the rear elevation includes a timber-framed and weatherboarded extension for the staircase.
Inside, the ground floor was originally two or more rooms but is now one large space, with remnants of a former door leading into Number 6 at the back. There is an early 18th-century corner fireplace and an early 18th-century shell cupboard with fluted surrounds and H-hinges, the latter likely added in the early 20th century. The staircase features thin turned balusters. The first floor is also now a single room, retaining traces of a former door into Number 6. The second floor consists of two rooms divided by a plank and muntin screen, with dado panelling in the front room.
The property includes attached cast-iron railings.
