Description
The Tennis Pavilion, located in the grounds of Number 41 Witanhurst, was built around 1913 by Harold Peto as part of his design for Sir Arthur Crosfield's garden. Constructed from brick with stone quoins and dressings, it features a hipped roof made of graduated stone slates. The south front showcases a hexastyle Ionic screen with paired central columns, flanked by brick bays that have stone quoins and oval niches. The left side has a stone-dressed Venetian window, while the rear includes a segmental pedimented doorway with triangular pedimented, architraved windows on either side. There is also a doorway on the right-hand return. Inside, the pavilion retains a continuous panelled timber dado, timber window surrounds, and a doorway with a six-panelled door topped by a triangular pediment. The coved ceiling features a modillion cornice and was formerly adorned with a central panel.
