Description
The monument to the Dickens family is located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery and dates from around 1870. It features a large inscribed stone slab set within neo-Classical railings, with a smaller early 20th-century slab on top that repeats the inscription. This monument commemorates Charles Dickens and his family. It holds historical significance not only for its connection to the renowned 19th-century English novelist, who is buried in Westminster Abbey, but also for its association with his family, including his sons, who were named after prominent literary figures such as Walter Landor Dickens and Alfred Tennyson Dickens.
