Description

The monument to Sir Henry Knight Storks is designed as a headstone with a gabled top, resembling a Gothic aedicule. It features a carved and moulded cornice above a pointed trefoil arch, which is supported by cylindrical colonettes with leaf capitals. Inside the aedicule, there are two crossed sabres, a laurel wreath, and a badge that displays Storks' military honours, including the insignia of the Order of the Bath and the Order of St Michael and St George, all carved in high relief. Below this, the text lists his numerous official appointments. In front of the headstone, there is a coped ledger slab set on a brick vault, with small stone uprights that were once connected by a chain, marking the boundary of the plot.
