Description

A terrace of five shops with living accommodation above, built in the late 1860s on a hillside and designed with a slight stepped appearance. The buildings are constructed of stuccoed brick. They are three storeys high, with two windows on each level. The shop fronts have largely been altered, but retain unusual fascia brackets carved as bearded masks. The upper floors feature architraved sash windows; those on the first floor have lugged sills and bracketed cornices. The second-floor windows are segmental-arched, with keystones and lugged sills. The modillion cornices of each building are stepped and linked by further brackets adorned with masks. The buildings have coped blocking courses with dies. The interiors have not been inspected. The terrace is included on the list for its group value as part of an overall planned development alongside the Roebuck Public House.
