Description
The Charles Dibdin Memorial, located in St Martin's Gardens (Recreation Ground), is a Grade II listed Celtic cross memorial erected in 1889 by the Kentish Town Musical Society in memory of Charles Dibdin, a composer who died in 1814. The memorial is made of stone and features a rectangular plinth with a bowed out pedestal that supports a Celtic cross. The shaft of the cross is adorned with a nimbus and is intricately carved with a lyre and anchor on a pile of rope, which unfolds into a Celtic pattern. Additionally, there is a central cherubim with arms that display rosettes and further decorative patterning, along with a beaded nimbus.
