Description
No. 26 Eton Avenue is a detached house built around 1900 by Amos Faulkner and constructed by William Willett & Son. The house is made of red brick with a tile-hung first floor and features tiled gabled roofs with tall brick slab chimney-stacks, dormers, and a projecting timber modillion eaves cornice. It has an asymmetrical design and consists of two storeys and an attic, with an irregular arrangement of three windows, all of which have glazing bars.
The central portico has a tiled hipped roof supported by six painted columns. To the right, there is a slightly projecting bay featuring a 10-light transom and mullion bow window with a modillion cornice, along with a three-light window that has a cast-iron balcony on the first floor. The gable is adorned with bargeboards. The left bay includes a five-light canted bay with transom and mullion windows, also with a modillion cornice, and a three-light window on the first floor. The left gable is rendered and has a modillion eaves cornice. The left return features a single-storey lean-to with a tiled roof and projecting rafters, which provides a subsidiary entrance with a 20th-century panelled door and an integral fanlight on the front facade. The interior has not been inspected.
