Description
31 Eton Avenue is a detached house built around 1900 by Amos Faulkner and constructed by William Willett & Son. The house is made of red brick and features tiled hipped and gabled roofs with a dormer, tall brick slab chimney-stacks, and swept bracketed eaves. Its design is asymmetrical, consisting of two storeys and an attic with irregular fenestration that includes three windows, all of which have glazing bars.
The entrance bay on the left projects forward and features a wide timber porch with a barrel vaulted hood, modillion cornice, and coffered intrados supported by stone Ionic columns. The entrance has double panelled and part-glazed doors. Above, there is a three-light window at the first floor level, accompanied by a red brick and stone chequered parapet topped with a small stone pediment. The central bay has a projecting ground floor with a four-light transom and mullion window, and a tiled penthouse roof that rises to a four-light window at the first floor. The right-hand projecting gabled bay includes a five-light canted bowed bay extending through both the ground and first floors, with a small window in the gable featuring a stone apex. The interior has not been inspected.
