Description
Numbers 1 and 2 are two terraced houses that have been converted into one property. They date back to the earlier 18th century, with alterations made in 1820. The buildings are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and feature a stone band at the first-floor sills, with No. 1 also having a stone band at the basement level. The structure has four storeys and basements, with No. 1 having two windows and No. 2 having three. Notably, No. 1 has a seven-window left return, with the first two being blind. There is a single entrance in No. 2, which features a doorcase with a stone architrave, a plain frieze, and a block bracketed cornice. The recessed windows have yellow gauged flat arches, and No. 1 has a stone cyma bracketed cornice at the third floor, along with parapets.
The interior has not been inspected but is noted to be fine, featuring early 18th-century doorcases, a chimney-piece, and panelled rooms. The staircase includes twisted balusters, fluted column newels, and carved ends.
The property also has subsidiary features, including cast-iron railings with spearhead finials attached to the areas. Historically, in 1820, No. 2 was amalgamated with No. 1, resulting in the removal of the staircase from No. 2 and the rebuilding of the staircase from No. 1 between the two houses, which created one central entrance.
