Description

Numbers 8-15 Rothwell Street form a terrace of eight houses built around 1862 for the Marquess de Rothwell. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick with rusticated stucco to the ground floors. They are three storeys high with basements, and each house has two windows. Numbers 10-13 slightly project from the main facade. Each house has a stucco doorcase with pilasters supporting an entablature, and doorways with pilaster-jambs supporting cornice-heads. Fanlights and panelled doors are present. The ground floor windows are sash windows with margin glazing, while the upper floors have architraved sashes. The first floor windows have console bracketed cornices. A stucco cornice and blocking course remains, with console brackets still visible on Numbers 10-12 and 15. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials are present to the areas.
