Description

A terrace of seven houses built in 1862 for Count Richard Rainshaw, Marquess de Rothwell. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick with stuccoed ground floors. They are three storeys high with semi-basements, and each house has two windows. The ground floors were originally occupied by shops, and retain panelled pilasters, enriched console bracket stops, and fascias with cornices. The doorways have square heads with overlights and panelled doors under architraves. The first floor windows have console-bracketed cornices, while those on the second floor have bracketed sills. A projecting bracketed cornice with enriched console bracket stops corresponding to those below runs along the top, terminating in a blocking course. The interiors were not inspected. The property includes attached cast-iron railings with fleur-de-lys and spearhead finials to the areas.
