Description

A terrace of five houses located on the east side of Oval Road, built between 1849 and 1850. The buildings are constructed of yellow stock brick with a rusticated stucco ground floor and a plain first-floor band. The symmetrical terrace features projecting end houses, and has three storeys and basements. Each house has two windows. The doorways have plain stucco surrounds, fanlights, cornice heads, and panelled doors. Numbers 2 and 10 have pilasters forming the doorways, and extending to the ground floor to support entablatures and cast-iron balconies. The ground-floor sashes of numbers 4 to 8 have vermiculated keystones. Upper floors have architraved sashes, with cornices and cast-iron window guards to the first floor. The end houses have a stucco second-floor sill band continuing around the returns. There’s a cornice and blocking course at the top of the building. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with foliated finials define the areas.
