Description

This is a terrace of six houses located on the east side of Gloucester Crescent, dating from the mid-19th century. The facades are constructed of yellow stock brick, with channelled stucco to the ground floors and stucco detailing to the first floor, including bracketed window cornices, a third-floor cornice, and a main cornice. The properties are four storeys high with basements, each featuring two windows, although the end houses have an additional window within recessed entrance bays.

The entrances have panelled doors with overlights; the two end houses are flanked by pilasters. Numbers 37 and 38, and 39 and 40, are paired with prostyle porticos. The ground-floor sashes are tripartite, with bracketed mullions, except for the end houses, which have two sashes with margin glazing. All ground-floor windows have keystones and bracketed sills. The upper-floor sashes largely retain their glazing bars, diminishing in height towards the top floor. Bracketed balconies with geometrically patterned cast-iron railings are present on the first-floor sashes. The interiors have not been inspected.
