Description

No. 33 Betterton Street is an early 18th-century terraced house, which was refaced in the early 19th century. It is constructed of yellow stock brick, and has four storeys and a basement. The building originally had two windows, although it now features a 20th-century shopfront. The first and second floors contain recessed casement windows with gauged reddened brick arches. A rebuilt parapet tops the facade.

The interior retains a good early 18th-century staircase, with a closed, moulded string, square newels, and twisted balusters. There is also a moulded dado, some original doorcases, a hall with an arched opening, some panelling, and a boxed-out cornice. The interior is included as part of the listing.
