Description
The formal pond surround, fountain, and pedestals in the garden of Inverforth House were created around 1906 to 1910 by Thomas H. Mawson as part of a garden design for Lord Leverhulme. This feature is located on a wide terrace that runs east-west, aligned with Inverforth House, and connects the Terrace Steps to the Cruciform Pergola. The pond is rectangular with curved ends and is surrounded by a paved stone border. At the center, there was originally a fountain that featured a bronze statue of a boy on a dolphin, which is now missing. The pond is flanked by pedestals that once supported Classical urns, which are also no longer present. The garden was divided when the house was converted into a hospital.
