Description
The garden terrace steps at Inverforth House are a Grade II listed feature, constructed around 1906-1910. Designed by J Lomax Simpson as part of a garden scheme by Thomas H Mawson for Lord Leverhulme, these steps lead westward from the house down to the Formal Pond and are an integral part of the upper terrace layout. The steps consist of a double flight that curves gracefully, flanked by stone balustrades. Historically, the terraces were built using spoil from the excavation of the Hampstead Tube. The garden was later divided when the house was converted into a hospital. For further details on the garden, refer to the entries for The Hill Garden on North End Way.
