Description

No. 37, Neal Street is a c.1695 terraced house, likely designed by J Stephens, and restored in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick with a plain stucco first floor sill band, topped with a slate mansard roof featuring dormers. It rises four storeys and includes a basement, with a facade of two windows.

A wooden shopfront, dating from the early 19th century, features pilasters supporting an entablature with an inswept frieze and projecting cornice. The shop window has shutters. The house and shop doorways both have fanlights and margin lights, with partly glazed panelled doors - the house doorway now leads into the shop. Recessed sash windows with original glazing bars are set within gauged brick flat arches. A parapet tops the facade. The interior has not been inspected.
