Description
Park Flats is a building originally constructed around 1795 as a second stable block for Kenwood House, located at a distance from the main house and stables. It has been converted into flats and features a U-shaped plan with a long side that is two storeys high and has 16 windows, with wings that project backwards. The building is made of stock brick, with a first-floor band and a cement plinth, topped by a slated roof. The central section has a pediment, and the two end bays project slightly. The windows are modern casements, with those on the ground floor set in arcaded panels. There is a tall central carriage arch, with the upper floor infilled in timber to create a room, and similar arcading is found on the one-storey wings. The interior has not been inspected. The property was formerly listed in the London Borough of Barnet, but the land south of Hampstead Lane was transferred to the London Borough of Camden on April 1, 1994. This building has been listed twice before, including under the parish of Hornsey, but that entry was removed from the list on September 9, 2015.
