Description

The service wing and outbuildings to Kenwood House, built between 1793 and 1795 by George Saunders, are now partly converted into a restaurant. These structures are made of multi-coloured stock brick and feature hipped, slated roofs with wooden, bracketed eaves cornices.

The exterior presents an irregular range, highlighted by a large central rectangular kitchen with splayed corners, flanked by diagonal wings on the main south facade, which is screened by a loggia. The loggia is supported by wooden Doric columns and features an entablature. The kitchen is three storeys high with three windows, and the entrance is located under the loggia, featuring a round-arched doorway with a patterned fanlight and double panelled doors. The windows have gauged yellow brick flat arches and are recessed sash windows. The roof includes a rectangular louvred lantern topped by a dome.

On the right-hand wing, there are two storeys with five windows (the centre window is blind) and one window on the splayed return. The entrances under the loggia include a square-headed doorway with a brick flat arch and a partly glazed door on the left, and two wooden carriage doors with a segmental arch overlight on the right. The left-hand wing is similar in design. The east facade is constructed of brown brick and features a brick band at the first floor level, with two storeys and nine windows, the centre three of which slightly project. The windows here also have gauged yellow brick flat arches and are recessed sashes.

The interiors are plain and have undergone some alterations.
