Description
The monument to Lieutenant Albert Darasz and others is located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery and was created around 1852. It features an eagle with a banner emerging from a tomb and raising an inscribed tomb slab, made from marble and Portland stone. This monument commemorates several Polish nationalist exiles who fled to London after the failed uprising of 1848 and symbolizes the resurrection of the Polish nation. It is one of several monuments in the area dedicated to Polish nationalists.
