Description

The monument to Sarah Sophia and Joseph Warren Zambra is a tall, slightly tapering headstone topped with a Doric frieze and a triangular pediment that features a wreath. Beneath this, there is a semicircular panel containing a metal plaque with a relief depicting angels carrying a soul to heaven, inscribed with 'Visdaroni [?] 1867'. The main inscription commemorates Sarah Sophia, the wife of Joseph Warren Zambra of Tufnell Park, who died from injuries sustained in a carriage accident at Arreton on the Isle of Wight on August 29, 1867, at the age of 42. It also notes Joseph Warren Zambra, who died at Walden, Fitzjohns Avenue Hampstead on December 13, 1897, at the age of 75, and mentions Sarah, his second wife, who was born on July 14, 1823, and died on December 15, 1901. The monument includes a slab with a plain cross and a shaped footstone featuring an amorino (winged cherub's head) and a garland carved in relief.
