Description

The Old Smithy is a mid-19th century estate cottage featuring Gothic detailing. It stands two storeys tall with red brick walls and a fish-scale slated roof. The roof has oversailing verges with bargeboards that have undulating soffits. Notable features include cream terracotta drum-type chimney shafts with diaper ornament set on a red brick base. The cottage has wrought iron small-pane casements, with those on the first floor having gabled dormer heads. There is a three-sided corner entrance porch with a gabled roof and a boarded door that has an oval fanlight above it.
