Description

A group of two churchyard monuments located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds. The first monument, MON 246, consists of a headstone and footstone from the 18th century made of Ketton stone, although no inscription remains. The headstone features a cartouche adorned with three winged angel heads. The second monument, MON 247, is a box-tomb designed in an Egyptian style, dating from 1822. It commemorates Edward Thomas Blomfield (1822), his sister Ann (1833), Frederick William Charles (1806), Hester Blomfield, Anna Blomfield (1800), Charles Blomfield (1871), and his wife Hester (1844).
