Description

This is a churchyard monument located in Bury St Edmunds, specifically in the Great Churchyard. It is a coffin tomb with head and footstones, dating from 1817 and made of Ketton stone. The monument commemorates John Thompson, who died in 1817; his wife Martha, who died in 1815; his sister Mary, who died in 1781; Edward Thompson, who died in 1869; and his wife Ann, who died in 1810. The monument is described as a palimpsest and has recently been broken. The headstone features a winged angel head and includes a double inscription panel.
