Description

A group of two monuments located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds. The first monument, numbered 206, is a flat stone with a head and foot, made of Ketton stone and dating from 1820. It commemorates Marmaduke Beand and his widow Isabella, who died in 1850. This stone features a "Mummy-Stone" design, which includes a shaped and rounded body-stone between the head and footstone, a style commonly found in Surrey and Kent. The second monument, numbered 208, is a tomb dating from 1635, dedicated to Edward Bourne, a gentleman. It is a very old box tomb with a massive thick ledger slab.
