Description
Highbury Cottage is a house located on College Street in Bury St Edmunds. It was originally divided into three cottages and features a front that dates back to the late 18th century. The building was restored and largely gutted in 1964. It is timber-framed and has a roughcast-rendered exterior, topped with 20th-century pantiles. The structure is two storeys high and previously included a cellar, which has since been infilled.
The front of the cottage creates the impression of being divided into two sections and has a three-window range. The windows consist of small-paned, two-light casements set in cased frames, which are adorned with moulded architraves, cornices, and sills supported by stub brackets. On the ground floor, there is one fixed window, one small-paned sash window, and one sliding sash window, all within cased frames featuring moulded architraves and cornices.
The interior of the cottage does not contain any notable features, according to the owners. The building is included in the register for its group value.
