CULFORD CULFORD PARK Terrace walls and steps to garden front of Culford Hall

GV II

Terrace walls to the south and west of Culford Hall. Early C19. Yellow brick and stone. Low brick retaining walls with plain stone copings, surmounted by 11 stone ball finials, spaced at intervals. A short flight of stone steps on the south side, and another on the west, with pairs of stone urns at the top and bottom of handrails: the upper urns decorated with horned satyr heads and acanthus leaves, the lower with festoons of flowers. A further matching short stretch of wall on the west side has a flight of steps with 2 stone ball finials at the bottom of the handrails, and 3 urns with horned satyr heads spaced along the coping of the wall.
