Description
No. 1 Southgate Green is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is timber-framed and has a roughcast-rendered exterior, topped with a 20th-century pantiled roof. The building stands two storeys tall and features a three-window range, with all windows being two-light casements. The first storey has small panes, while the ground storey windows have a single bar. There is a central single-storey gabled porch that leads to a panelled entrance door. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to have no significant features exposed inside and does not have a cellar. This house is included for its group value as part of the townscape at the south entrance to Bury St Edmunds.
