Description

This is a low wall, approximately 43 metres long, located along part of the south side of Pump Lane in Bury St Edmunds. It is likely from the 17th century and constructed from re-used blocks of ashlar, with some blocks made of Barnack stone. The wall is partially backed by Tudor brick and features a plain red brick coping. The blocks vary in size but are carefully arranged in courses. Some of the blocks show traces of red staining, which is believed to have been caused by fire.
