Description

Clare Hall is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house that was refronted in brick during the 19th century and is now colourwashed. The south front features three gables, with two larger outer gables and a central smaller gable. The building has two storeys and a five-window range, with double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars set in plain reveals. The ground floor has three-light canted bay windows with single vertical glazing bars. An original mullioned and transomed window with leaded lights provides light to the staircase. The roof is tiled, and the interior boasts a notable 18th-century staircase. Clare Hall is part of a group with the premises occupied by H Barham and Son at No 32 (Sunnybank) and No 33 (Hillside).
