Description
Slades Holding is a late 16th-century farmhouse that stands two storeys high with attics and features a three-cell plan, positioned sideways to the road. The building is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a pantiled roof, and has a small lean-to on each side. It includes an internal chimney stack with a plain red brick shaft. The windows are a mix of old three-light and two-light small-paned casements, and there is a plank door with a plain surround. The frame consists of six bays, with a two-bay central room that has a heavy main beam, which is chamfered and scroll-stopped, along with plain unchamfered joists set flat. In the other rooms, only the main beams are exposed. On the upper floor, there are reversed braces in the corners and arched braces supporting the cambered tie-beams.
