Description
18, 19, and 20 Churchgate Street is a terrace of three houses built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The houses are timber-framed, with No. 18 rendered and Nos. 19 and 20 finished in old roughcast. They have plaintiled roofs with a wide plain eaves overhang.
The buildings are two storeys high, with attics and cellars. The terrace features a three-window range, with 16-pane sash windows in moulded flush cased frames on the upper storey and 12-pane sash windows in similar frames on the ground storey. There are three lead-covered flat-headed dormers with rendered cheeks: No. 18 has a two-light single bar casement, No. 19 has a four-pane sash window, and No. 20 has a 20th-century replacement window.
The three doorways are adorned with heavy plain wooden pilasters and cornices, leading to four-panel doors with flush panels. The interior does not show any earlier features, and the interior of No. 18 has not been inspected.
