Description
16 and 17 Hatter Street are a pair of houses, now used as offices, dating from the early 19th century. The buildings feature a white brick front and rendered sides, topped with a shallow-pitched slate roof and a plain parapet with stone copings and a cornice.
The exterior consists of three storeys and cellars, with a five-window arrangement that is organized as 1:3:1, where the central section slightly projects forward. The first and ground storeys have 12-pane sash windows set in plain reveals with flat gauged arches, while the second storey has 6-pane sash windows in similar surrounds. There are projecting stone sills at the ground and top storeys, and a raised stone band is located below the first storey windows. Each end of the building features a slightly recessed entrance door, which is framed by a plain semicircular-arched brick surround. Above each door is a fanlight with radiating glazing-bars. The interior has not been inspected.
