Description
Greenacre is a late 16th-century cottage that is set sideways to the Green in Rougham. It has one-and-a-half storeys and is constructed with a timber frame that is rendered, featuring panels of old comb-pargetting. The roof is thatched and there are two end chimney-stacks that are set externally, both with stepped sides. These stacks incorporate some Tudor brick, with the larger and older stack located at the north end.
The cottage has two three-light casement windows that have two horizontal bars on the lights, as well as two smaller two-light casements. There is one large mid-20th century eyebrow dormer, and a lean-to structure in two sections along the rear wall. Inside, the cottage has a two-cell division, with little framing visible. One tie-beam has been cut and another has been replaced. Several rafters appear to be smoke-blackened, but there is no other evidence of an open hall. The cottage was previously divided into two separate units.
