Description
No. 16 Long Brackland is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of white brick and features a slate roof with a plain wide eaves soffit. The building has two storeys and a cellar, with a total of three windows. The windows are 12-pane sashes set in flush cased frames, featuring flat gauged arches and stone sills on both storeys. The central doorway is topped with a semicircular brick arch and plain reveals, and it includes a wood doorcase and a semicircular fanlight with radiating glazing-bars. The door is a 20th-century half-glazed design. A stone plaque below the middle window commemorates the residence of Henry Cockton, a novelist known for 'Valentine Vox', who lived from 1807 to 1853. The interior has not been inspected.
