Description

No. 70 High Street is a house and shop that dates from the late 16th century to the early 17th century. The building has two storeys and features a timber-framed structure that is plastered, with a jettied design along the street front. The upper storey is decorated with pargetting, and three of the bays display naturalistic designs in high relief, while the other two bays show traces of comb patterning. Inside, there is a plain shaft internal chimney stack. The roof is covered with Roman tiles. At the north end, there is an early 19th-century small-paned bow window, while the rest of the shop front has 20th-century windows. The upper floor has two-light casements, along with one original four-light window that has diamond mullions.
