Description
Mole Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century. It has a timber frame with smooth render and a thatched roof. The building is two storeys high and has a three-cell form. The windows are mid 20th century small-paned casements, and there is a half-glazed entrance door with a gabled open porch added in the mid 20th century. To the north, there is an old lean-to addition with the roof extending over it, which features another mid 20th century door in the end wall. Inside, there is an internal stack with a plain red brick shaft, of which the lower part is original. The internal structure shows plain studding that is quite widely spaced, with braces on the outside. There is evidence of first floor diamond-mullioned windows. The hall and parlour have plain joists set flat, and there is a newel stair. The roof consists of a single row of clasped purlins.
