Description

The Old Rectory is a house, originally the rectory for the parish. The front section dates from the early 19th century, although there is earlier fabric to the rear. The front block is constructed of white brick with a hipped, slate roof. The rear of the building has a timber-framed core, partially plastered and partially faced in colourwashed brick, with a grey concrete pantile roof. The house is two storeys high, with an attic to the rear.

The symmetrical front facade has three bays, the central bay slightly projecting. It features inset sash windows with glazing bars, each set within a flat brick arch. A late 19th-century Greek Doric timber porch shelters the doorway; the porch has an entablature and a three-quarter glazed door in two leaves, with further glazing above.

The early 19th-century staircase, located just behind the front block, has stick balusters, a ramped and wreathed handrail and carved tread-ends. The upper floor was not examined during the listing process.
