Description
The Green Man is a house that later became a public house, featuring some work from the 16th century in the rear wing, but mainly constructed in the second half of the 17th century and later. It has an L-shaped plan with a three-cell front range. The building is timber framed, mostly plastered, and the front range is designed to imitate ashlar. It has a thatched roof and stands two storeys high. There are three windows, which are late 19th or early 20th century three-light mullioned casements, each with wooden hoodmoulds. The entrance is a lobby with a mid-20th century door. Each range of the building has an internal stack; the front stack features four octagonal shafts with star caps, while the rear stack has two similar shafts, all made of 19th century white brick. The interior has been significantly altered in the 19th and 20th centuries, with little of the original structure remaining visible.
