Description
Oak Tree Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with a mid-19th century addition set back to the left. The older part of the cottage is timber framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof. It has one and a half storeys and a two-cell layout. The cottage features 19th century casement windows and a 20th century door at the rear. There is an internal stack with a small square shaft. The one-bay mid-19th century addition is constructed of colourwashed brick and has a pantiled roof. This addition has two storeys and features three-light small-paned casement windows with segmental arches and brick hoodmoulds. Inside, the main room has a floorbeam dated 1664 and heavy plain joists, while the right-hand cell has smaller joists. The roof is a clasped-purlin type with a ridge piece. The building was under renovation at the time of the survey in May 1986.
