Description
Oldcott is a house that was originally a farmhouse but has since been converted into several cottages. It features a 16th-century range at the rear and a 17th-century parlour cross-wing that faces the road. There are various later additions to the building. The timber-framed rear section has modern textured render and pink pantiles, while the cross-wing is constructed of 19th-century red brick and has a roof covered with glazed black pantiles. The house is two storeys tall with an attic in the cross-wing. Mid-20th-century casement windows are present, along with mid-20th-century diamond-leaded windows in the cross-wing and a lean-to porch with a glazed door that matches the window style. There is an internal stack in the rear section. The rear features some impressive first-floor framing and evidence of diamond-mullioned windows in the hall chamber. The cross-wing is divided into two rooms on each floor, and the heavier joists in the entrance hall are likely reused. The roof over the wing contains several reused medieval rafters that are heavily sooted.
