Description

The Limes is a farmhouse dating from around 1600, with a rear service wing added in 1831, as indicated by a date on the plaster gable. It features a three-cell cross-passage entrance plan and stands two storeys high with attics. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof that has an axial chimney made of red brick. The property includes 20th-century casements and a panelled entrance door located at the side. Inside, there is good unmoulded framing visible, particularly in the long two-bay parlour cell, which has massive principal members made of elm timber. The hall and parlour both contain back-to-back open fireplaces with very wide cambered lintels. The roof structure is supported by butt purlins.
